Another critical factor for the application of nylon products is fire. The need to guarantee safety for persons and property and to limit fire risks, is focusing attention on the analysis of the fire behaviour of various construction materials, including plastics.

Plastic materials equipped with this certification are defined with flammability rating “self-extinguishing to U.L. 94”.

This certification is issued exclusively for raw materials. The flammability rating of nylon is U.L. 94 V2 (self-extinguishing).

Not all polyamides are self-extinguishing. SapiSelco has chosen to manufacture all its standard cable ties in 94 V2 self-extinguishing

nylon. The flammability test forms part of the SapiSelco acceptance specifications for raw materials and finished products.
